I was first exposed to the friendly folks in CSPA-NYS in 1997 while attending the placement conference at the College of St. Rose. It was my first experience with placement and really the first time I realized student affairs could be an entire career. Upon finishing my Masters degree in college student affairs at Eastern Illinois University and returning to NYS I sought out CSPA-NYS and attended the annual conference in Silver Bay in 2001. I left with an appointed position and have pretty much remained involved since. I consider CSPA-NYS my professional family and am eternally grateful to the people in the organization who have served as my friends, support network, colleagues, and professional mentors in my career. The professional development I have received through my involvement with CSPA-NYS is unparalleled by any other experience to date. It is an honor to serve this organization and the incredible membership that makes it so great. On a personal note…I am happily married and my wife, Shannon, and I, are proud parents to our son, Gabriel and our daughter Alexandra. I am proud to be from the great state of New York. I was born on Long Island and grew up in the Adirondacks. I did my undergrad work in Canton, NY at St. Lawrence University and have happily lived in Western NY in both Rochester and Buffalo.

Hello CSPA-NYS Membership! Joining CSPA-NYS in 2007 was an obvious choice for me. After completing a M.S. in Student Personnel Administration, I was lucky to have a mentor who was truly invested in me and encouraged my professional development and involvement in professional organizations. Since 2009, I have served as Member-At-Large for CSPA-NYS and have worked closely with the Membership Coordinator on developing new ideas to increase and welcome new membership. Being involved in CSPA-NYS has provided me the opportunity to meet other professionals, visit new places and work on interesting projects. I like being involved with this organization because in doing so I feel connected – connected to the field and connected to like-minded professionals.

Hello! My name is Chris Hockey and I am currently serving as the Membership Coordinator. Previously I served as Member-at-Large, and worked on creating and developing new incentives for members. I have helped design two new initiatives for CSPA-NYS. The first is the Graduate Student Scholarship for CSPA members currently in a Masters program in Higher Ed. The second incentive is a Professional Development Grant for CSPA members that may need financial help to attend the annual CSPA-NYS Conference. I've been a member of CSPA-NYS since 2005 but became active in the Association in 2007. My involvement started with assisting on the 2007 Conference as a member of the Programming Committee. I live in Fulton, NY with my wife, Melissa and daughter, Kaelyn.

I first became involved with CSPA-NYS as a graduate student at Canisius College in Buffalo, NY. After attending several conferences I decided I wanted to get more involved. During the ACPA Convention in Atlanta I attended the CSPA-NYS social and met several of the people who make this organization great. When I heard they were accepting nominations for Executive Board positions I threw my name in the ring, and was fortunate enough to earn a Member-At-Large position. During my time on the board I have taken on the task of rebuilding the CSPA-NYS website. With the help of our amazing Web Designer, Dave Rodriguez, and the input and direction of the board we are excited to offer this new, and much improved site. When my term as member-at-large ended I was excited to transition into the webmaster position. In addition to working at Niagara University, and serving on the CSPA-NYS board, I also serve as the Member-At-Large, Entry Level - elect, on the ACPA Governing Board.
