Creating Opportunities for Professional Enrichment.
On behalf of the 2009 Conference Planning team, it is our pleasure to invite you to join us for the CSPA-NYS Annual Conference, October 4-6, 2009 in Syracuse, New York. The conference theme is Creating Opportunities for Professional Enrichment.
We know that during these times of frozen or cut travel budgets, higher education professionals are still looking for opportunities to grow professionally; CSPA-NYS is such an option. The conference and program sessions have been designed using the following competencies: professional responsibility & competence, student learning & development, strategic planning, and diversity & multiculturalism. You will find program sessions that emphasize what we as higher education educators do to create opportunities on our campuses for professional enrichment and excellence.
By participating in the conference you will have opportunities to create the enriching moments we are often looking for. Our featured speakers, Kristan Cilente, Vernon Wall, and Gavin Henning will further enrich your conference experience through their dynamic presentations. The Esther Lloyd-Jones Case Study Competition, Graduate pre-conference, 2nd Annual Next Generation–NY undergraduate pre-conference, and our partnership with the SUNY Council of Chief Student Affairs Officers will ensure that there are quality professional development opportunities for everyone who attends CSPA-NYS 2009.
It is our hope you will encourage your undergraduate student leaders interested in the field of student affairs to participate in the Next Generation–NY pre-conference. Next Generation–NY was the winner of the 2009 ACPA Innovation Award. Based on feedback provided by the student participants in 2008, we are very excited about the enhancements made to this program for 2009.
The strength of the CSPA-NYS Annual Conference is and has always been the programs that our members present. As you review the programs in the pages that follow, you will find workshops addressing diverse student populations, parental expectations, and eco-friendly initiatives. Please also take note of the Sunday morning pre-conference for graduate students. Regardless of your functional area, specialized responsibilities, or particular passion within Student Affairs, the CSPA-NYS 2009 Annual Conference will offer you an unparalleled professional development opportunity. We look forward to seeing you in Syracuse where together we will Create Opportunities for Professional Enrichment.
Sincerely,
Beth A. O’Neill & Kimberly A. Harvey
